SharePoint 2010 – Multi Tenancy Configuration (Part 1)
Liam Cleary divbBody:/b div class="ExternalClass66B8E237A33F49139C8A636B78E5D6F8"pAs part of some work I have been doing recently and some long conversations (thanks again Spence) I have been working with the Multi-Tenancy options. For the solution I was looking at designing I was wondering whether the multi-tenant approach would work. Next Phase of my Life!!
Liam Cleary Well for the past 10 years I have worked within various positions within the same company. I started life as a trainer, teaching the joys of Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Office 95 and Lotus SmartSuite. After some time I started teaching all the great networking, development and internet courses within what used to be called Lynx IT Training. Happy New Year
Liam Cleary It is that time of year again, well the start of something new. After a very busy and hard year it is nice to look forward to something new, something fresh that can be molded into whatever I want it to be. As I spent the whole Christmas week in bed ill, I had plenty of time in-between passing out to think over the past year and see what I needed to change and where I could improve. My main changes this year will be to blog more than I do now, unfortunately the joys of having children means it c [read]. Posted: Thu, Jan 1st '09 |
STSADM Command – What is using my Content Types?
Liam Cleary While working recently I was presented with the following query.
Is there any way I can look at my site collections and see what documents are using them?
I decided the best approach would be to create a custom STSADM command that would output the details I needed. To start this I launched Visual Studio 2008 and created an empty "CLASS" library and added the following declarations, it is also inherited from the "IPStsadmCommand" class:
I added the following classes to the code also:

Administrator, Specialist, Consultant, Architect or Guru
Liam Cleary Like most of you I would assume that you have had various job titles and sometimes they change with the times. I started life as an IT Trainer, progressed to an Internet Developer, had a few more in-between and am now a Principle Consultant. I remember when it was kind of cool to be called a technologist or an evangelist but now you don't see many jobs asking for that anymore. So what is so special about job titles and why do we get so hung up on them?

Personal Web Part, ASP.NET Components within XSL
Liam Cleary Over the past few months when I get five minutes here and there I have been working on my own web part that I would love to finish at some point. The purpose of the web part was really for the designer in me and the developer in me. Liam Cleary During Tech Ed last week, quite a few questions were about what TCP/IP ports and protocols and server traffic. Is SharePoint Secure? What can we do?
Liam Cleary The golden question I get asked on almost a daily basis is the following:
"How secure is SharePoint, it is a Microsoft product after all, and of course Microsoft and Security don't go hand in hand."

MOSS2007 Testing Using Visual Studio Team System 2008
Liam Cleary Probably like most of you out there who work with SharePoint, you will probably be asked about testing the performance of the solution. Feedback Web Part *Update*
Liam Cleary In one of my last posts I talked about a feedback web part that I did as a demonstration. Since then I have modified the web part and decided to change it slightly, instead of it being a self contained web part it is now a user control and a host web part. This was because I wanted the best of both worlds, use it as a web part and also use it as an embedded control within an ASPX page. I have also changed it slightly for this demonstration so it reads the URL of the lists and the names of the li [read]. Posted: Sat, Feb 16th '08 |
