If you have the experience of MOSS you know that you could only have it installed in a Windows server OS (2003 or 2008), and this would make you use virtual machines or setting up development servers. This time the people of Microsoft allows you to set up the development in a common Windows 7 (64 bits) machine, [read]. Posted: Fri, Feb 26th '10 |

Migration from MOSS to WSS
Ricardo Magalh The migration process usually is done from WSS to MOSS, but once in a while there is the need to do the opposite, so what should you do?
First of all you need to be careful with the features of MOSS that don’t exist in WSS, so a good option is to deactivate them before trying to do a Backup or Export.
This can result in problems with your site, so the best thing is to insure that everything works with the MOSS features deactivated, before migrating to WSS.

Sharepoint Site and My Site in different languages
Ricardo Magalh A friend on mine asked me if I had any ideia how can a Sharepoint site be in one language (Portuguese) and the correspondant My sites be in another (English).

Chris O’Brien’s Check List for Optimizing Sharepoint Sites
Ricardo Magalh Chris O’Brienhas posted a very interesting article in his blog on optimizing a Sharepoint Site. One of the downs in Sharepoint sometimes has been performance.
For the developer sometimes is frustrating after building performant code to have a slow Sharepoint site, this can happen due to the amount of JS and CSS that are used out of the box by Sharepoint.
Is it possible to overcome this? Yes ti is . . . so a good start is Chris post.

Common Problem with Content Deployment: mixing incremental and full deployment
Ricardo Magalh From Stefan Gossner blog a very important article on the diference between Full and Incremental deployment.
“A common error I often see is that customers are mixing incremental and full deployment when deploying a site collection. E.g. use incremental deployment every day and full deployment once a week - just to be sure (maybe because they do not trust incremental?)
The problem is that incremental and full deployment do not deploy the same type of content. So the data on source and destin [read]. Posted: Wed, Jan 14th '09 |
