SharePoint User Auditor
Tim Dobrinski I have found that my most time consuming task as a SharePoint admin is discovering what sites a user has access to. Way too often I have been tasked with setting up a new user with the "same permissions as User X". Now, while this isn't impossible, I will admit that my proper security gr ... Providing Free Applications: Looking Back on a Year of Donationware
Tim Dobrinski On February 21st, 2009, I released a program to the SharePoint community called the SharePoint Space Monitor. Its purpose: to analyze the content on a SharePoint site to see which sites are hogging up your Site Collection's Content Database. As it has been almost a year since the applications rele ... How to completely hork up your Search Admin in two easy steps

Warning: Bad Things Can Happen When You Try To Copy List Items Between Lists
Tim Dobrinski Body:
Came across this little gem of a "feature" in MOSS today.Â
One of my users wanted some information in one list to appear in another list. Fine. But these two lists were not even close to identical. Now, one would think that if someone tried to copy a listitem from one list to another list and the columns didn't match then an error would occur. One would think. But here's what really happens: the columns in the source list that are not in the destination list are ADDED TO THE [read]. Monitor Your Disk Usage: The SharePoint Space Monitor
Tim Dobrinski Body: Let's be honest, more often that not, there are two questions that you often have to ask yourself in the world of SharePoint Administration: Who moved my cheese? and Who is hogging all the disk space in my Site Collection? While I can't help you with your cheese, I can offer up a suggestion for monitoring disk space on your MOSS Farm.
SharePoint, well, MOSS, offers up a solution to analyze the usage of your farm with the _layouts/storman.aspx page. But this has two drawbacks: First, [read]. Posted: Sat, Feb 21st '09 |

Today, I have made the latest and greatest version of the SharePoint Variations Editor available for download from my downloads page. Look for the SharePointVariationsEditor_2.zip file
So you may ask yourself why I would write a second version of a program that a) isn't but a few months old and b) only has about a dozen people using it. This is a good question. [read]. Posted: Mon, Dec 15th '08 |

Tim Dobrinski Body: This may be a minor problem but it is something that I think could useful for those of us with internet-facing sites.
Â
In using an SEO Analysis Tool (Bruce Clay's Keyword Density Analyzer), I discovered that my keywords were skewed due to the repeated use of the phrses "scroll up" and "scroll down".Â
Â
After some research, I found that this is due to the ASPMenu appending the scroll arrows to the top and bottom of each dropdown menu in case the total height of the menu is gr [read]. Posted: Wed, Oct 1st '08 |

Site Actions Logout Feature
Tim Dobrinski Body: I was recently asked about adding a "Log out" button to the Site Actions menu. As luck would have it, I had written a feature on it a good while back. It's not all that complicated, but I figure that it can't hurt to share in case anyone out there wanted it and (most importantly) wanted it ready made.
Â
I have posted the feature elements in my Downloads section. Look for SiteActionsSignOut.zip.

As readers of my blog have probably noticed, I spend alot of my time in SharePoint trying to work with Variations. You probably also noticed that I've spent alot of time trying to fix Variations' problems - espically in the Relationships List. This is not always easy. As it turns out, Variations are not the most stable of features in SharePoint. [read].
